FAQ

Who is Jesus Christ?

Jesus Christ was both fully man and fully God. Since every one on the earth has sinned we need a savior. The remission of sins is death so we needed someone to pay the debt for those sins. Jesus became the perfect sacrifice and died in our place. Then, he rose again and is living forever and those who accept this free gift of salvation can also live for eternity in heaven with him. How was Jesus the perfect sacrifice? He was a man without sin. He did what we could never do since the first humans. Jesus Christ was also a carpenter, which meant he was not rich. He left his riches in glory just to die for us on the cross.

What does it mean to be saved?

Being saved means that you have accepted the free gift of salvation and are living your life for Christ. We are saved by faith and not by works, which means there is nothing that we could have done to earn our way into heaven. Jesus is the only way. However, faith without works is dead. This means that once we get saved our life changes and we start to do things we didn't do before; like going to church, reading the Bible, praying, and following what the Bible says (whatever that may be). Keep in mind that doing those things is not what saves you, it is God's grace and sacrifice on the cross of Calvary.

How do I get saved?

Getting saved is very simple. There is a chart in the About page if you would want to check that out! In short, you ask Jesus to forgive you for your sins, you believe that he has died for your sins on the Cross, and you tell someone else about your newfound faith. That's it! If you need help knowing what to pray this is a good template: "Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and need salvation. I know that you died on the cross to save me from my sins and rose again on the third day so that I too could have life. I pray you come into my heart and wash me clean from my sins and forgive me for my sins. Help me to follow you and your ways as instructed in the Bible. I make you Lord of my life. In Jesus' name I pray, amen."

What church should I go to?

First and foremost, pray for God's will in your life, then ask God, through prayer, what church you should attend. Read your Bible often and notice the values that it holds to be true. The church you attend should have the same values. Always check it with God's word. If you find that you are attending a Church that does not follow the gospel and keep true to God's word then politely leave that Church and work at finding a new one. God will not forsake you, he will help you find the Church that you need! Pray for God's guidance and direction as you ask him what Church you should attend. If you are saved he will hear your prayers!

What Bible should I read?

What we use is the King James Version Bible. This is what we would recommend. If you would like a deeper understanding as to why we don't use another Bible version feel free to check out our Bible Study in Level 1 Called "What Bible Should I Read?" under the "Bible Studies" tab. We plan in the future further exploring this topic as to why. I am working on that study now. If you use a different version, don't worry. I am not trying to insult your faith or salvation, we just have different views and you are entitled to your own opinion. I respect your decision, let this not be the thing that separates God's people. <3

What is Baptism?

Baptism is the outward act of the inward change. It is the visual testimony and representation of the commitment you have made to serve Christ. This is the first step in discipleship. (Acts 8:26-39) The symbolism behind Baptism is this: Jesus died, was buried, and rose again. In the same manner we are buried in Christ (submerged under the water), dead to our old life and sin, and rise again out of the water in new life in Christ. This is why we believe in a full submersion water baptism; it isn't just part of us that dies, it's all of us. Acts 15 and Romans 4 make it clear, however, that Baptism is not necessary for salvation, it is what should come after you are saved. In fact, 1 Corinthians 1:17  Paul plainly says, "Christ sent me not to Baptize, but to preach the Gospel."   Crosswalk.com puts it this way, "If baptism were part of the gospel itself, necessary for salvation, what good would it have done Paul to preach the gospel, but not baptize? No one would have been saved.  The penitent woman (Luke 7:37-50), the paralytic man (Matthew 9:2), the publican (Luke 18:13-14), and the thief on the cross (Luke 23:39-43) all experienced forgiveness of sins apart from baptism. For that matter, we have no record of the apostles’ being baptized, yet Jesus pronounced them clean of their sins (John 15:3—note that the Word of God, not baptism, is what cleansed them)."
